Kelsey In Florida
April 22nd, 2021
A few color photos of Kelsey when we shot in the jungles of Florida.
Another Gallery Show
April 16th, 2021
The photo above of the amazing Rachel on the coast of Maine has been selected for a show at the Southeast Center for Photography in South Carolina. It’s an older photo that I have re-edited for my Brigman/White Project. It’s one of my favorites.
The show will run June 4 to 26. It looks to be an excellent show. If you are near Greenville, SC, you might want to check it out.
Kelsey in Black and White
April 11th, 2021
I had a chance to work with one of my favorite people and a great model, Kelsey Dylan, in Florida.
We did a few photos with my orb to use in my Brigman/White Project. Here are those. My next post from this shoot will be regular color figure in nature photos. Coming soon.
Lisa of the Jungle
April 7th, 2021
One more post from this great shoot with Lisa Everhart.
Lisa is a great model and as you can see, this place in the Florida “woods” is a beautiful place to shoot.
I really have to thank Lisa for making this series possible. She not only did her great job modeling, but also took me to the great location. Thanks Lisa.
More Lisa
April 3rd, 2021
Some more of the lovely Lisa Everhart running around in the wilds of Florida.
Not much to say. Lisa is a fine model and I have added these to my Brigman/White project.
I’m a Winner!
March 29th, 2021
The Cleveland Photo Fest has notified me that I have won the second place award in their Deja Nude juried photo show. This is the photo that won the prize:
Featuring the wonderful model, NevaehLleh out in the wilds of Joshua Tree National Park.
The show will be up in Cleveland as part of Cleveland Photo Fest for the months of May and June at the Bostwick Design Art Initiative. I hope it will be possible for me to attend the opening on May 1.
Three more of my photos were also accepted for this show, so I have some printing and framing to get done. Here are the others that will be in the show:
The call for art for this show said they wanted weird or unusual photos, so I was able to come up with a few.
In the Jungle With Lisa
March 26th, 2021
Continuing to work through my shoots from before the plague hit us, here are a few from a shoot with the amazing Lisa Everhart in Florida.
I was in a Brigman/White mood when we did this shoot, so they are all edited in the style of that project.
I was still enjoying playing with the orb on these, as you can see. There will be more coming from this shoot, both with and without orb. Lisa is a fine model and very good to work with. The result of that is that I have quite a few photos from this shoot that I’m happy with.
More Athena
March 23rd, 2021
A few more photos of Athena shot for my Brigman/White project.
The orb was a popular prop with Clarence White, Sr. He used it a lot. Alfred Stieglitz, on the other hand, hated the orb and wrote about being upset with White for using it. I’m much more of a White fan than a Stieglitz fan, so I’ve enjoyed bringing the orb into my work.
All my projects have a limited lifespan (with, apparently, the exception of the figure in nature). I now feel like I’m near the end of the Brigman/White project. I have some more shoots for the project that are not yet edited, so those will eventually show up here, but I feel like I’ll probably not be shooting much more on this project. Maybe the year of not shooting because of the plague has made it part of my past. But you never know, I might get inspired to do more. Only time will tell.
Getting Past the Plague
March 18th, 2021
It’s been a long year. The last time I did a photo shoot was January of 2020. Finally, that has changed. I have my plague shots now so I’m ready to get back into photo action.
A few days ago I was able to do a shoot with the amazing, lovely Carrie Turner. Carrie has started her vaccinations. We were careful and kept our distance.
As you can see, she’s a strikingly beautiful woman and I can tell you that she is not only a great model, but also a delightful human being. A real pleasure to work with.
For me this shoot was sort of a warm up. I hadn’t really touched my cameras in a year. I got them out and charged up the dead batteries and made sure I had the settings where I like them. We shot at Carrie’s studio. My only goal was to get some nice shots of Carrie and get some practice with my equipment. It worked out quite well.
I brought out my soft-focus lens for a few photos. That worked well too…and I got some practice with that manual-focus lens.
I hope to do a lot more work with Carrie as the plague subsides. And I have some shoots with her that haven’t appeared here yet that I did in 2019 before the plague started. I decided the jump ahead and edit this one now as a celebration of the coming of the end of the plague.
Pas de deux
March 9th, 2021
This photo taken at a Dayton Contemporary Dance Company concert was selected as a finalist the performance category of the Pas de deux dance photography contest. This is an international competition with many amazingly wonderful entries by dance photographers around the world, so I’m very pleased and honored to have been included in the finalists.
