Jenny Reflection
August 10th, 2021
A few photos from a shoot with the amazing Jenney Anne Rose. Above is Jenny reflected in a mirror.
And Jenny plays with one of my many orbs.
Some of our best fun at this shoot was when Jenny brought out her hats.
The more hats, the more fine, fun photos.
It’s always fun to play with strong, direct sunlight through windows, blinds, and curtains.
The hats had me thinking about something I did many, many years ago. There was an annual photo competition that I would enter. It had many categories, but I noticed that there were few entries in the “fashion” category. So I made sure to enter that category every year. Usually I won. After a while, just on a lark, I started entering a photo with the title, “Straw Hat” every year. I won several years in a row with my Straw Hat entry.
Thank you Jenny for doing such great modeling and bringing back my straw hat memories. I think these would do well in that contest, if it even still exists. But I’ll find somewhere else to send them for display opportunities.
Random Snaps
August 7th, 2021
Last week my friend Dave Rudin from New York City came for a visit and we ran around taking photos. Here are a couple snaps I took while Dave R was shooting more interesting stuff with his Pentax 67.
Above is a shot from inside the tunnel at Blackhand Gorge in Ohio.
Below is a shot along a trail at Starved Rock State Park in Illinois.
Springfield Museum Show
August 5th, 2021
I’ve been very busy and I’m behind. Lots of projects going on. But here’s a quick post. The photo above is on exhibit in the annual members’ show at the Springfield Museum of Art. The lovely model is Wonderhussy. The location is near Lake Mead in Nevada.
Here’s a shot of yours truly by the print in the show:
Exhibit at the Middletown Arts Center
July 21st, 2021
I have three photos in an upcoming show at the Middletown Arts Center. Here are the photos they chose for the exhibit. Above is from my contortion series. The model is Tiffany Helms.
The other two photos are (above) with model blueriverdream from Eagle Lake above Lake Tahoe, and (below) with Ayn from my Brigman/White project.
There will be an opening reception for this show on Friday, July 23 from 6 to 8 pm. I plan to be there, so if you are too, please say hello.
Just a Snap

Just sharing a cell phone snap from a local restaurant. Just a shot I saw and liked.
Maine Snapshots
July 14th, 2021
Just sharing a few snaps from my recent trip to coastal Maine. My first travel since the plague descended on us.
July 10th, 2021
Sorry there have been no new posts for a while. I’ve been traveling…the first real travel since the plague began. We went to Vermont, Maine, and the finger lakes region in New York. The reason for the stop near Keuka Lake was to visit and have dinner with Mike Johnston, the owner and operator of The Online Photographer blog. That’s Mike on the left with me in the great little restaurant The Timber Stone Grill in Hammondsport, NY.
And there we are standing in front of the restaurant after a delicious meal and delightful conversation. Mike is a great guy with incredibly deep knowledge of the world of photography. If you don’t read his blog you are missing some great stuff.
These photos were taken by my lovely wife, Emily. Seems like she takes more (and better) photos than I do these days. Here she is below with Mike.
I did do a little photography on this trip. And I actually used a “real” camera for them. Those photos are downloading to my home computer as I write this. “Real” photos take so much more work than cell phone photos. I’ll be posting a few of those when I get them edited.
More Brandy
June 24th, 2021
Brandy did more than just look fantastic in the waterfall. I gave her a real workout that day. And she stood on her head to make great photos.
We went on from the waterfall to another nearby park for these photos.
For some reason I was seeing upside down that day and Brandy did a great job helping me capture what I was seeing.
Not everything was upside down. But pretty much everything was wet. It was a rainy, misty day, though you can’t really see that so much in these photos. But in this last shot you can get an idea of what Brandy had to go through to make these photos. Thanks, Brandy, for a great job…and for suffering for my art.
In the “Wilds”

Made trips this past week to both the Columbus (Ohio) Zoo and The Wilds. Here are a few snaps from the visits.
Brandy in the Waterfall
June 15th, 2021
I shoot models at waterfalls a lot. Sometimes I think I might do these photos too often. But, waterfalls are constantly changing, so even this one that is a few minutes from my house can produce a wide variety of photos.
Waterfalls are a challenging location for my models. There’s too much noise for us to be able to communicate well. Often the air and/or the water is too cold for the model to be able to tolerate getting wet. Just how much suffering she is able to tolerate for my art is something I leave entirely to the model. I always encourage my models to just say no to anything they aren’t comfortable doing.
And then along comes a wonderful model named Brandy. She was game for getting in the waterfall. It was a fairly warm day, but that water was still cold. And the waterfall is a fairly high one, so the water was really pounding hard when it hit Brandy. As you can see, Brandy nailed it. These are the best “model in a waterfall” photos I’ve taken in nearly 20 years of doing nude in nature photos.
It’s hard to pick just one, but this next one, I think, is my favorite.
And here is Brandy making her way out of the torrent after doing this amazing job of posing.
Thank you, Brandy. You really made it happen. There is more to come from this shoot. And I hope to soon be doing more work with Brandy.
