(Much) More of Mer Imbri

February 3rd, 2022

Yes, Mer and I did shoot some nudes. The last nudes for me of 2020. The plague shut everything down shortly after this shoot.

Sometimes I like to use orbs in regular photos.

Mer wanted to do some photos with her Tarot cards. I’m always happy to go along with whatever my models want to do. I added the Moon, which I thought fit pretty well with this photo.

Something I always enjoy is playing with what different kinds of light will do with the color of photos. I love mixing light and seeing where the colors fall. That’s one of the reasons I work mostly in color.

And a little drama in the posing sometimes is enjoyable. Especially with such a beautiful and talented model.

The Moon and Orbs

January 30th, 2022

On my last shoot of 2020 I did a few photos with Mer Imbri (@merimbri on instagram) for my Brigman-White Project.

I had a new “Moon” that I included in some of the photos.

And, of course, I used one of the trusty older orbs for a few photos.

As always, the lovely Mer did a great job and helped me make some fine photos for this project.

Some Portraits of Mer Imbri

January 28th, 2022

Sometimes when you are working with a very beautiful model it just seems right to make some simple portraits. That’s what I did when working with Mer Imbri. She is on instagram as @merimbri. I’m not on instagram, so I can’t link to it, but you can find her if you want on there.

We did this shoot in January 2020…and it was the last shoot I did in that year because of the plague. I had no idea at the time, of course, that the world would soon be shut down.

You may notice that a few of these photos are in soft focus. That was deliberate. I was trying out a new soft focus lens for some of these photos. And my conclusion was that I really didn’t like how that lens performed. But with a lady as lovely as Mer, there were bound to be a few successful photos no matter the lens.

But, as least my last shoot of 2020 was with a lovely and talented model.

I hope to be working with her again soon.

I have a couple special projects in mind that she will be perfect for.

But there is plenty more coming from this shoot, so you’ll get to see a lot more of Mer Imbri soon.

More With My Friend

January 23rd, 2022

Here are a few more photos from my first, and next to last, shoot of 2020.

Sometimes you just want to make a nice portrait of a friend.

And sometimes you find a special prop that leads you to a different photo, especially when you happen to have a new close-up lens that you want to try out.

The tub in her home is particularly nice, so we had to do a few photos there.

Besides, I wouldn’t want to disappoint those of you who come here to see nudes. She is a quite lovely lady, as you can see.

That’s it for this shoot. Next up, my second and last shoot of 2020.

Who Knew What Was Ahead

January 19th, 2022

I only did two photo shoots in 2020. You know why. Both of them happened in January. Then the plague descended on us and the world stopped.

I was fortunate to be able to start 2020 off with a shoot with a beautiful friend who has been modeling for me for many years.

She’s not an active model at this time, although she was in the past. So, she prefers to remain anonymous.

As you can see, these photos are done in the style of my Brigman/White Project in tribute to and memory of two great photographers from the beginning of the last century, Anne Brigman and Clarence White Sr.

Both White and Brigman were fond of using orbs in their photos, so I’ve included some in mine. White especially, liked to use window backlighting…and I do too.

I’ll have some more to post from this shoot soon.

More of Carrie and Peggy

January 10th, 2022

After wandering around in the woods for a while with Carrie and Peggy, we came upon a semi-abandoned building that offered some fine photo opportunities.

Portraits were what this location seemed to call for. So we made a few portraits.

These piles of wire were interesting.

I think they made a nice background for the lovely Carrie.

And, finally, one of Peggy through a broken window.

I want to mention that Carrie is going through a serious tragedy right now. Last week the Masonic Temple in downtown Zanesville was destroyed by a massive fire. Carrie had a studio in that building along with many other artists and artisans. It’s a huge disaster. The loss of all the art in all those studios, and the loss of a magnificent, beautiful old building that meant a lot to the people of that community.

If you are interested in helping the victims of this fire with their recovery you can do so at this link.

Gotta Love The French

January 7th, 2022

I’ve just learned that I, once again, have a photo published in French PHOTO Magazine. This means I’m one of the winners in their annual contest, which they say is the largest photo contest in the world. I’m been one of the winners almost every year for something like 15 or 20 years. I’ve lost count. When I first started entering I had to mail prints to France to enter. Now, of course, it’s all done online.

I must add credit and accolades to the wonderful model and co-creator of this photograph. She made that dress and carried up the mountain in the Desolation Wilderness and suggested we shoot it beside Eagle Lake. Thanks to BlueRiverDream. She is one of my favorite models and favorite people.

In The Woods

January 4th, 2022

My last shoot of 2019 was a fun time wandering around a wooded area with Carrie and Peggy.

It was a beautiful spot and these lovely ladies did a great job posing.

As we wandered around we came across this wonderful old tree. Both ladies couldn’t resist posing with it.

There’s more from this shoot to come.

Behind the Scenes in the Wilderness

December 27th, 2021

As I’ve often said, I work with a number of models who are also great photographers. I always encourage them to bring their cameras and do their own photos while we are working. BlueRiverDream is one of those wonderful “modelographers.” I know some use that term as a derogatory, but I see no reason a great model can’t also be a great photographer. BlueRiverDream is one of those.

Above, Ariea checks out the photos that BlueRiverDream has just done of her.

If you have looked around my website you’ve, of course, seen the photo above. More credit to BlueRiverDream. That’s her in a dress that she made and brought along so we could photograph it.

The dress and these photos are part of Blue’s “Loie Fuller Project.” There is a lot more too it. It’s worth your time to check it out.

And here is Blue shooting another of her photos at the amazing Eagle Lake:

Finally, a snap of the three glorious models who climbed the mountains with me to make art. Thank you Ariea, Blueriverdream, and NatashaBleau. They are all wonderful ladies and great models.

Man Plans; God Laughs

December 27th, 2021

Just a little personal update. I died last Thursday. Massive heart attack. Fatal arrhythmia that fortunately didn’t start until a few minutes after I got to the ER. They brought me back with paddles and CPR. So, it looks like I’ll be around a bit more, but posts may slow down as I deal with all the doctor stuff.
