Another Window
Friday, May 11th, 2007
Here’s a window in that fake ruined shack at Three Dike Hill. People told us this location was on a popular drug smuggling route and was heavily monitored. We didn’t see any sign of surveillance cameras, but they assured us they were there and that we were on film somewhere, no doubt bringing a little […]
Shack
Wednesday, May 9th, 2007
At the base of those wild rock formations were a couple small ruined shacks. When we first found them we thought they were “ghost town” ruins like those we had seen in Terlingua and at the abandoned mercury mine we’d visited before. They looked pretty much the same from the outside. But when we got […]
Rock curves
Monday, May 7th, 2007
The shapes in the rocks at Two Dike Hill were just amazing. Of course I had to fight the sun to get a photo. In this case I was fighting flare and almost succeeded in eliminating it. If you look critically you can see some flare effects on the left side of the photo, but […]
The Fake Church
Saturday, May 5th, 2007
Here are both Rose and Niecy at the “church” on the old movie set in the Big Bend area. That Big Bend sun was cooking the front of the church, as it cooked everything in that country. But I think I managed to pull out some of the color and texture of the building and […]
"Church" Window
Friday, May 4th, 2007
Here’s a window at the “church” on the movie set in the Big Bend area. I spent yesterday doing my first real motorcycle ride of the year. My best friend, Ken, and I made a loop around some of the more interesting parts of Ohio on back roads. One of the roads we rode was […]
Back to Big Bend
Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007
Ok…enough with the pinhole photos. Time to get away from the soft grainy pinhole photos and back to the scorching sun of Big Bend. Here’s Rose in the partial shade of a porch awning woven from cactus branches. I still have a lot more Big Bend photos to go through, then I’ll be editing the […]
Another Pinhole Photo

Here’s another one from yesterday’s pinhole shoot. Dave Rudin is working at my studio again today. This afternoon I take him to the airport so he can return to NYC.
Today’s Pinhole photo
Sunday, April 29th, 2007
This is one of the shots we did today for Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day. It was shot with a Nikon D200 at 3200 ISO with about a 1/10 sec exposure. I was hoping for more models, but several were unable to come at the last minute, so I had to make do with two beautiful […]
Ladies and Gentlemen, Mount Your Pinholes
Saturday, April 28th, 2007
Just thought I’d remind everyone that Sunday, April 29 is Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day. http://www.pinholeday.org/ Here’s another pinhole photo of Nemesis from our test shoot getting ready for tomorrow’s shoot. My friend Dave Rudin from NYC is visiting this weekend and shooting in my studio. (His blog is linked on the right.) Today I found […]
Niecy in the sun
Thursday, April 26th, 2007
Here’s Niecy off a Big Bend trail posing on the brown rocks out in the sun. Again, by paying very careful attention to the exposure I was able to pull the color of the rocks up even though to the eye the sun pretty much washed the color out.
