Behind the Scenes
December 7th, 2021
In addition to being a beautiful and talented model, Carrie Turner is also an excellent photographer. Some people seem to use the made-up word “modelographer” in a derogatory way. I don’t really understand that. I know quite a few models who are also great on the other side of the camera.
When a “modelographer” is modeling for me, I always encourage her to bring her photo equipment and do some of her own photos when there is another willing model on the scene.
That’s what happened on this shoot at Proparazzi. Tigger posed for some photos with Carrie doing the photography. I couldn’t resist doing a few snaps of them in action.
Some Alternative Photos
December 1st, 2021
Spending a whole day shooting at Proparazzi with Carrie, Tigger and Peggy gave me plenty of time to play around with some alternative forms of photography. These first two were made with a pinhole.
And I did a few photos with a cheapie circular fisheye lens from the Lomo people.
I like to play with things like these just to keep my vision fresh and shake out the cobwebs. You have to think differently when you hang things like these on your camera.
And, of course, it’s crucial to have understanding models who are willing to work with the very different situations that these lenses require. Thank you ladies.
Color In The Barn
November 27th, 2021
I decided that some of the photos from Proparazzi with Carrie, Tigger and Peggy should be in color.
The big barn there is lovely, has great light, and is full of fun props.
Add in three beautiful, talented models and fun stuff happens.
Mirrors are always fun to play with.
Sometimes all you really need are some straight lines and some lovely curves.
So, that’s the end of the barn photos. At least for now. Still more to come from this shoot.
Fruit and Flowers
November 24th, 2021
More toned black and white photos from Proparazzi with Carrie, Tigger and Peggy.
We had some fun with an old truck and some sunflowers.
And then we went inside for more photos in the lovely house that’s also part of the photo location here.
Still more to come from this great shoot with great models at a great location.
More From Proparazzi
November 21st, 2021
Here are some more photos from this shoot at Proparazzi in the Brigman/White style.
Thanks again to my three amazing models on this day of shooting, Carrie, Tigger and Peggy.
And there will be more to come from this shoot. It was a great day for photography.
Fun At a Photo Farm
November 18th, 2021
I’m just back home from some travels, so I can start posting again.
These photos are from a shoot done in 2019, the summer before the plague started. This day was a great shoot at Proparazzi, a place that is a setting for photography out in the country.
The location was great, but even greater were the three beautiful, talented models I was working with that day. Thanks to Carrie Turner, Tigger, and Peggy for doing a fantastic job for me on this day.
As you can see, especially if you have been following my work, I decided to process these photos in the style of my Brigman/White project. The look of this place just seemed to fit with that project.
I have quite a few “keepers” from this shoot that I’ll be sharing for the next few posts. Not all of them are “Brigman/White” photos.
So, keep checking back. Many more of these lovely ladies to come.
More Down On The Farm
November 5th, 2021
Some more photos from the shoot with Brandy and Jenny at my friend’s farm.
The light was really quite beautiful in the shade of this glorious tree.
Old buildings can make for nice photos too.
And I’ll close this post with a nice portrait of Brandy. Thanks to both these beautiful ladies for making it possible for me to do these photos.
At The Farm
November 1st, 2021
A few photos from a shoot at a friend’s farm with Brandy and Jenney.
As you can see I’ve processed these in the style of a century ago. They are part of my Brigman/White Project, a tribute to the pioneering photography of Anne Brigman and Clarence H. White, Sr.
I brought out an orb, a popular prop with both Brigman and White.
I loved the glowing background with the models in the shade of a great old tree.
And I did another photo of Brandy in a very different setting, but still thought it fit with this project.
Halloween
October 28th, 2021
Just thought I’d share a few sort of spooky photos to mark this Halloween.
Thanks to the wonderful models who made these photos possible: Brandy, Carrie, Sam, Peggy, Sarah, and Athena
Royal Publication
October 26th, 2021
The Royal Photographic Society in England just published an article in their journal about pinhole photography. They asked me to write about my work with pinholes and to send them some of my pinhole photos. Here’s what they published from my submission.
Thanks to the lovely and talented Ellen Dennis, the model for this year’s Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day photo. She is now an internationally published model.
