Desolation
December 11th, 2021
If you’ve been around this blog much in the past few years you are well aware that I’m a great admirer of Anne Brigman, a member of the Photo Secession and a pioneering photographer of the nude in nature.
After seeing a retrospective of her work at the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno, I knew I had to return to do some of my own photography in the areas above Lake Tahoe where Anne had done most of her work.
The mountains around Donner Pass and the Desolation Wilderness are the places where she made most of her photos. So that’s where I went.
That’s Donner Lake in the background.
Anne did self portraits, but also worked with a number of models. I had the great good fortune to have three wonderful models to work with on this shoot. Thanks to Ariea, Blueriverdream, and NatashaBleau.
