And there are two factions of people reading this. Those who think it is as silly as this cartoon makes it sound, and those who do it and think it is art.
I of course, from knowing me as long as you have, am of the first group. I have no problem with those who want to use wet plates; film; or older techniques. I do have some distaste for those who want to use modern techniques and make them look as though they were done with those older techniques.
To some it may be an art form. To me is says, “I’m too lazy to spend the time to do it properly, so I’m going to fudge it and pretend it is something it is not. And with that I will call it art.”
Bottom of the barrel artists in my book. If you want an image to look like you shot a wet plate… then go out and shoot a wet plate.

Look at it this way:
Suppose they came up with some software that would create music that needed no talent in the music field. Just a computer program.
What would it be worth next to an opera written by Mozart?
That is what Photoshop and like programs are. Creation without talent. And its value is just that. Zero. It may look pleasant, but it has no value.
