Athena

March 30th, 2012

Back home from that long trip out west, it took me a while to get back to work.  By that time it had gotten cold, so it was time to make use of my studio.  And the first shoot I did was with an old friend.

Athena is a lovely young woman, a talented photographer, a graphic designer and a beautiful model.  I’ve known her for quite a while and enjoyed working with her.  She’s the model in some of my favorite photos.  But a couple years ago she got married and had her first baby.  That pretty much put an end to her modeling and she has been a full-time mom ever since.

When I returned home from the trip Athena was pretty far along in her pregnancy for her second child.  I did some family portraits for them and Athena graciously agreed to pose for a few nudes as well.

One of the wonderful things about photography is the ability to catch moments in time like this so Athena will always have a reminder of the time when she was carrying her new daughter.  It’s sometimes hard for us to remember that only 200 years ago having images to remember times like this was not even something that could be imagined.  Photography really has changed the world we live in…in more ways than we know.
