Silvergate
July 21st, 2008
The truck is all fixed. We made it over the Beartooth Pass to Silvergate on schedule. It’s probably a good thing we didn’t follow the plan and camp at the Top Of The World Resort at the top of the Beartooth Pass. There was a motorcycle rally in Red Lodge, MT, last weekend. When we went by the Top Of The World on Saturday it was packed with bikers. Now I don’t mind bikers, being one myself, but that was not exactly the remote wilderness experience I was expecting at that location. So it’s just as well.
We’ve been shooting and having a great time.
Blue Sheba has joined us and we’ve been visiting some waterfalls and mountain streams. That’s her at a waterfall that is within walking distance of our cabin.
Our cabin at the Log Cabin Cafe Bed and Breakfast is the wilderness experience I was wanting in this wonderful place. There’s no internet, not cell service, no TV. But our log cabin is very comfortable and the breakfast is sensational. It’s a place to go to if you are in this part of the country.
Yesterday we drove the big loop through Yellowstone National Park, stopping at many of the popular sites. It was packed with people. There was no opportunity to do any figure work there. It’s too bad, because some of those spots would make great shots, but it is not to be. With so many other wonderful places around this area, it’s ok.
Today we drove back over the Beartooth Highway to Red Lodge where we are all now checking e-mail and doing other internet stuff at an internet cafe. We stopped at several great shooting locations on the way. I’d share some of those with you now, but I left my card reader back at the cabin. So they’ll have to wait until next time.
Next time will probably when we get to Colorado on Wednesday. I hope to find a campground with Wi-fi. So, until then, enjoy Blue Sheba and waterfall.
